To celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, the Florida Remembered Society proudly presented the opening of “Red, White & FOOD” a vibrant exhibition celebrating the flavors, traditions, and stories that have nourished the American spirit.
The opening of “Red, White & FOOD,” a local food‑heritage exhibition presented by FRS in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street and supported by Florida Humanities with funds from the Jacarlene Foundation, drew an enthusiastic crowd to the St. Lucie School in St. Lucie Village. Guests arrived eager to explore our local food history and cultural traditions.
About 150 attendees moved through the themed exhibits, discovering the many ways “Food Unites Us and Delights Us.” Visitors also cast their votes in St. Lucie’s Best Smoked Fish Dip contest, sampled Fort Pierce’s beloved peanut butter pie, sipped fresh orange juice and lemonade courtesy of the Florida’s Natural Growers Foundation, and learned about the “Blue Diet” from the Ocean Research and Conservation Association (ORCA).
