Celebrate America250!
Join the Florida Remembered Society in Feeding the American Spirit through a Taste of Local History.
Discover exhibits that explore how food not only fuels our bodies but also forges our community’s identity and connects various cultures. Learn how food brings people together and creates enduring emotions and memories. Engage in these educational and entertaining themes of “Land of Plenty,” “Local Flavors,” “Dynamic Delivery,” and “Home Cooking.” Enjoy contemplating your own foodways stories through bountiful artifacts, objects, photographs, recipes, text and hands-on fun. Stop at each exhibit’s table and follow the flow of food and time from early Native American food traditions to modern-day kitchen technologies.
Consider your own place at the table as you explore the various people who have taken a place at the table in our local, state and nation’s last 250 years.
Visit the “Red, White & FOOD” exhibition, a collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street, supported by a grant from Flrorida Humanities with funding from the Jacarlene Foundation.
