On October 3, 2026, the Florida Remembered Society (FRS) hosted a special America250 program at the St. Lucie Village School featuring Rollins Brown, a fifth-generation native Floridian and descendant of local pioneers Annie and Benjamin Hogg.

Brown shared the story of his family’s entrepreneurial legacy, tracing their journey from one of Fort Pierce’s earliest trading posts, established in 1879, to modern agricultural and food-shipping enterprises. His presentation explored how the Hogg and Brown families adapted to changing times while maintaining their commitment to serving their community and the American marketplace.

The program was part of FRS’s “Feeding the American Spirit with 250 Years of Florida’s Homegrown History” series, made possible through support from Florida Humanities, the Jacarlene Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The presentation complemented the “Red, White and FOOD” exhibition at the St. Lucie Village School, presented through a partnership among the Florida Remembered Society, Florida Humanities, the Jacarlene Foundation, and the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program.
